Course syllabus

This two-day Paediatric First Aid course is recommended for those responsible for providing a high level of care to babies and children under 8 years old, enabling them to respond promptly and effectively to emergencies that may occur.

It is particularly suitable for registered childminders in England and Wales, who must have a Paediatric First Aid certificate, as well as parents, nannies, au pairs, nursery workers, playgroup leaders, and anyone involved in caring for children who wants comprehensive training.

The course also serves as valuable evidence for those pursuing an NVQ in Child Care and Education (Level 3). The curriculum aligns with UK Resuscitation Guidelines (2005) and meets Ofsted standards. It follows the requirements set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and is suitable for childminders, nursery, and school staff working within the Foundation Stage primary school and secondary school.

The course content is consistent with the ‘Practice Guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage’ (Appendix 1, page 23). The certification is valid for three years.
